Asking yourself if Walt Disney World would be a good honeymoon destination? Talking with family and friends about the idea? Consulting google to see if it would be worth it?? Well, let me just ease your wondering mind…YESSSSS!! Now let’s get right to the good stuff: all the magic you will experience if you choose the Happiest Place on Earth for your Happily Ever After!
My husband and I went on our honeymoon to Walt Disney World in June of 2019. We had the most amazing, magical, happy time! Imagine all of the usual magic of Disney multiplied by one million because you just got MARRIED!!! (congratulations by the way!) I have loved every single one of my Disney vacations, but my honeymoon will forever and always be my favorite. There is just something special about walking the streets of Main Street, U.S.A. hand in hand as newlyweds, riding your favorite rides with your best friend by your side, or exploring the cultures of the World Showcase with your favorite travel buddy. I can tell you from experience that there is nothing like a Disney honeymoon, nothing I could compare it to. It is magical and beautiful on a level that I could never do justice with the mere use of words. However, I’m going to try!
When I first started planning our Walt Disney World honeymoon my husband was worried there wouldn’t be enough time to relax. He said we would NEED to relax after all the wedding hub-bub and stress. Now, I am not one for a “relaxing Disney vacation”, that’s just not how I roll, BUT marriage is all about compromise right?
So, I decided to plan some relaxing activities for our trip. We scheduled a couple’s massage, an Aqua Tour (we got to swim with the sea creatures in The Seas with Nemo and Friends!), and a fun dinner show called Hoop-De-Do Revue (I highly recommend it)! These are just a few of the options we chose for our trip, but Disney has a bunch of relaxing options for you to choose from (including a romantic boat ride on the Seven Seas Lagoon with a view of the Happily Ever After fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom! Talk about magical)! Another great option is to just take a stroll around the parks admiring your surroundings and your husband or wife!
Now, for my Disney go-getters, a Disney honeymoon is perfect for you too! We woke up early some days, went to morning Extra Magic Hours, and rode rides to our heart’s content. (See the compromise went both ways!)
If you decide that you do want to spend your honeymoon in Walt Disney World (or Disneyland would be great too!) make sure you let them know that you’re honeymooning! They will give you cute “Happily Ever After” pins to wear around the parks which will cause people to tell you congratulations all day long! How fun is that?? Sometimes when cast members see your Happily Ever After pin they feel the need to add extra magic to your already enchanting vacation. They may give you an extra FastPass, a free dessert, or anything they can think of that will make you feel extra special! (I will warn you though not to get your expectations too high. You will probably get something special from a cast member at some point, but I can’t make any guarantees.)
Honeymoons are the perfect excuse to be a little extra and do some things you wouldn’t normally do. For example, you might set up a meal at a restaurant that is a little more expensive than where you normally eat. Or maybe you splurge for an extra experience as we did with the Aqua Tours. It’s your honeymoon! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity! Make it special, make it magical, (you don’t have to go too crazy), but make it a trip to remember!
If you asked either my husband or me if we would change anything about our honeymoon (besides our ridiculously hilarious travel issues getting there…different story for a different time!) we would both say no way! We ate amazing food, we experienced great attractions, saw some incredible sights, and spent tons of quality time making memories together. This was the perfect trip for both of us and it could be for you too!
