The re-opening of Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park is a very long awaited event and I am so happy it’s finally here!! In order to maintain social distancing and safety, Disney has made a few changes to their procedures. Those of you lucky enough to be heading back to Disneyland in the near future (how exciting for you!) need to know a few details about the reopening process!
Get your tickets!
Make sure you and everyone in your party (3 and up) has a park ticket AND a theme park reservation for the same day and park you are visiting. Theme park reservations are limited and must be made in advance. Also, make sure that you bring proof of California residency with you as currently only Californians are being permitted to the parks.
Download the latest version of the Disneyland App!
This app will help you link your tickets, mobile order food, see attraction wait times, see park maps, see hours of operation, and make dining reservations in advance. If you turn on notifications you will receive important updates about the Disneyland Resort.
Snag a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be using a virtual queue system for obtaining a boarding pass just as Walt Disney World has been doing recently. To see more details about how to get a boarding pass for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance click here!
Check into your hotel in advance!
Guests lodging at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa can use the Disneyland app to check-in up to 5 days in advance of their arrival. Once you have checked in you can choose to receive a text message to let you know when your room is ready on check in day. You will be able to pick up your keys at the Front Desk.
Parking
If you are driving to Disneyland you will need to Park at Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals Park Structure. When you arrive you will be asked if you have tickets and a theme park reservation. No need to arrive early since you will already have a theme park reservation, but do allow yourself time to walk from the parking structures to the parks because the tram will not be operating. However, stroller, wheelchair, and ECV rentals will be available at the parking structure. Seriously though, don’t try to arrive super early. Disneyland will not be allowing any lineups before 6:00 am when parking opens. Also, make sure you finish your food or drinks before leaving your car because you will not be allowed to eat or drink in line and I really don’t want you to have to throw out your coffee or last bite of pastry!
Downtown Disney
The Downtown Disney District will open at 10:00 am on April 30 and at 9:00 am on and after May 1. Downtown Disney will stay open after the theme parks close, so I would recommend waiting to explore until after you’ve done everything you want to in the parks! Parking for Downtown Disney is in the Simba Lot. (You will have to pay for parking upon exiting.)
Face coverings
All guests ages 2 and older must wear a face covering throughout the resort. That does include when you are outside. The Disney Food Blog has some fun Disney masks that you can check out here! Disney will be removing guests who do not comply or are acting aggressively towards cast members.
Park-Hopper
If you have a Park Hopper ticket and a park reservation, you can visit the second park anytime after 1:00 pm. So if you have a reservation for Disneyland Park, you can visit Disney’s California Adventure Park after 1:00 pm and vise versa.
Use Mobile Ordering
Mobile ordering can be done through the Disneyland App. It is a contactless way of ordering your food or drink. Available pick up times at mobile ordering locations are limited, so the best thing to do is place your order early in the day to make sure your meal is ready at the time you are wanting to eat! When you arrive at your restaurant you can tap “I’m here” in the app and head to the mobile order lane to pick up your food.
Use Cashless Transactions
There are a few ways to use contactless payments at Disneyland including: Apple Pay, dining cards, and gift cards.
I am so excited for you to once again experience the magic of Disneyland and I hope this helps you prepare for your exciting day!
